J & P Metal Technologies, formally known as J & P Contracts (Angus) Limited, was established in 1973 as sub-contract manufacturer's of various fabrications to the customers specification. 

Since then the J & P Group has developed into what is now one of Scotland’s leading general engineers, fabricators and sheet metal workers who can offer a full range of services from concept design through manufacture in a host of ferrous and non ferrous materials right down to the surface finished product i.e. blasting, powder coating, stove enameling etc.  The vast range of services we can offer allows for total control, in-house, of a wide range of products which can vary in size from small hand held units to full machine manufacture.

Our vast range of plant and equipment includes a Darley 4.3 meter CNC 200 ton Brake Press, Pearson 12' x 1/4" Power Guillotine and HD 30 70 DNC Plasma Profiling Unit with a Burney 2.5 control unit complete with computer link and 4m x 2m bed which are just a few examples of our fine well maintained equipment.

In 1994 a former apprentice, now time served engineer, of J & P Metal Technologies had the idea for a new division of the company, and in 1995 Coatech Surface Technologies was born. Coatech specialises in polyester powder coating and various other surface finishing all of which are environmentally friendly and of exceptional high quality. Our Systems Manager Mr. Ewan S Smith was the founder of this part of the company and is also a member of the family, which now runs the company as whole, runs the powder coating division.
